As part of a 15-month collaborative celebration titled 'Germany and India 2011-12: Infinite Opportunities' organized to commemorate the occasion of completing 60 years of Indo-German diplomatic relations, theMax Mueller Bhavan will present the official band of the Federal Republic of Germany, Bujazzo, in performance on Friday.
The performance will see the jazz artistes sharing the stage with musicians from the South Indian music scene, including those of the Karnataka College of Percussion, R A Ramamani and T A S Mani, as well as Karthik Subramaniam and master percussionist, Ramesh Shotham. Compositions by Ramamani, Louis Banks, Charlie Mariano and Mike Herting will be performed.
This is Bujazzo's first Indian tour, where they are paying tribute to Indian music and culture. This German jazz orchestra has already performed in cities like Bangalore, New Delhi, Chennai, and Mumbai as part of this tour, and are due to perform in Pune, Kolkata and Hyderabad.
The artistes from both parts of the world - Germany and South India - will portray two different cultures. The entire performance is a 'raga-based' musical presentation. The entry to the event is based on first-come-first-serve basis.
The live performance is scheduled to be staged at the Ishanya Amphitheatre, Yerwada on Friday.
