An ad mans dream comes true

Situated in Pirangut at less than an hour's drive from Pune, the Narendra Mundada's Film Studio and Acting Art Academy is located in the cool environs of the Sahayadri Hills. It is the dream project of
Mr Narendra Mundada who was an Ad- man- turned-filmmaker-turned-studio proprietor.

Mundada has been in the industry for the last 20 years and has dabbled in fields like advertising, marketing, market research and serials and is one such futuristic personality who has unveiled his ambition to launch a mega film and TV studio.

Says Mr Mundada about his ambitious dream venture, "The entertainment industry is in the midst of a period of tremendous growth. The advent of TV has also given an enormous stimulus to this industry and thereby has opened up new avenues for imaginative, talented youngsters to explore. In addition, Indian entertainment software is now entering the overseas market. Many new mega serials are on the anvil, and computerised special effects are bound to make them tremendously interesting. Similarly, Indian soap operas are also becoming popular. Hence, the urge to launch a mega studio to cater to film and TV shoots."

Presently the studio location has a hall stage and bungalow, which are already complete. In the next three years Mr Mundada plans to build 11 sectors that will provide for any shooting related needs. Mundada plans to build different sets and leave four acres vacant for people to build their own sets.

The studio will resemble a film city, as the sectors will include a bus station, bus stand, railway platform and station, a temple, hospital, court, clinic, jail, police station, petrol pump, a 22,000 sq. ft party lawn with a swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar, a canteen, and three gardens. Apart from this the studio will have a dormitory for accommodation of technicians and junior artists. He is also planning to build a five star hotel on location for the senior technicians and stars.

Narendra Mundada has so far produced 34 ad films, about 150 jingles and has launched some 500 new faces through his own ad films and serials. He was the executive producer of the popular TV serial Mayur Pankh. He was also an Assistant to producer
Pravin Bhai Thakkar in producing the Hindi feature film
'Yeh Majhaddar', starring Salman Khan, Manisha Koirala and Rahul Roy. He has also been associated with some of the best technicians in the production of Hindi and Marathi films and TV serials.

Of the number of prestigious ads which have being shot on this site, the following have made a mark - Leo Jeans and Nilons Pickles and more recently, the Star ad, featuring Salil Ankola, Rajesh Chavan and Seema Kapoor.

Noted personalities from Hindi and Marathi films regularly visit the Narendra Mundada studio site. Time and again they have supported Mundada and have shown their willingness to help him with his mammoth project.
