Roplas India Limited was established in
1965 as a Small Scale Industry
between Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, and
Rubery Owen, U.K. As a Mahindra Group concern,
it was set up to cater to the needs of Mahindra
& Mahindra Ltd. The company was set up primarily
to meet the Utility vehicle requirement and subsequently
develop FRP Hard Top being developed as per the
models of Mahindra & Mahindra.
The FRP concept in the Auto Industry has been
brought by this company over a period of 30 years
and is the only one in the organized sector
which caters to the demands of the automobile
market. Today Roplas meets the FRP Hard Top demands
for giants like Maruti Udyog Ltd., Bajaj Tempo
Ltd, Telco, etc.
In
the 1990s, when the Indian Government opened the
doors for foreign technology, there was immense
competition from multinational companies and new
generation vehicles, and so they concentrated
on other products like FRP add-ons. The company
got a Major boost when M & M introduced its
Armada vehicle in 1991.
Over the years the company has continued with
Hand Lay up process for moulding. But taking into
consideration the limitation of the process and
meeting the quality and quantity requirements,
they have introduced the RTM (Resin Transfer
Moulding) process under technical guidance from
Plastech, U.K.
With
an independent Project and R & D Department,
Roplas is in a position to attend to a variety
of customer demands. Being a part of the
M & M group, the company has a strong dealer
network in India, which is fully supported by
four regional offices and two sales depots. All
these ensure prompt response to customer's queries
and efficient after sales service.
Roplas has now further diversified into non-auto
businesses and concentrated on other business
like Chemical, Construction, Engineering, etc.
