Lucent Technologies Finolex Limited is a
joint venture between Lucent Technologies, USA
(erstwhile Systems and Technology Division of
AT&T), the world leader in telecommunication
- and Finolex Cables Limited, one of India's
largest manufacturers of Jelly Filled Telephone
Cables.
Lucent Technologies, recently formed as a result
of AT&T's planned restructuring worldwide,
and its research and development arm, Bell
Laboratories, brings leading-edge innovative
solutions to India, through this joint venture.
The company manufactures fibre optic cables based
on the advanced central tube design, compared
to the conventional stranded tube design, being
currently manufactured in India. The central tube
design offers several advantages - it is compact,
light weight cable, high fibre packing density,
easy fibre access and midspan entry.
The fully air conditioned, 8,600 square metre
manufacturing facility near Pune has been designed,
built, equipped, and staffed to meet with Lucent
Technologies' worldwide standards.
The plant, with a capacity of 10,000-cable kilometre
per annum, produces both dielectric and armored
cables with a fibre count of 2 to 96. The armored
cables use ECCS Armour making the cable excellent
for direct burial application resulting in reduction
of time and cost of installation especially for
long haul / backbone network applications.
DOT type approval has been received for 6, 12,
24 fibre dielectric cables. The cables manufactured
meet International Standards like IFC, CCITT,
Bell core, etc.
