At a time when media is being blamed for having hyped the Godhra
carnage and its after effects, out of proportion, it takes a brave heart to refreeze
frames, on the Godhra chapter. Mass Communications students of Symbiosis Institute
Pune, braving all odds shot a 28 minute documentary film trying to look at
the role of the media and its approach towards the carnage. Co-produced
and directed by Suchita Shah and Anupam Shrivastav, the team also included Pratyush
Bhaskar and Svashtishri Rao. Juxtaposed with Narendra Modi's gaurav yatra,
the film presents diverse points of view from riot victims and politicians to
law-makers and media professionals. The shoot wasn't easy as seeking co-operation
from the people wasn't a piece of cake. Most of the time, they just parked
themselves outside government buildings and media houses, waiting till they could
get interviews. The film's focus is on the post-godhra carnage. Elaborating,
Suchita says that while the riot victims talk about the raw deal they have got,
there are also those who talk about different communities living in perfect harmony.
