Paxonet Communications Inc., designs, develops
and markets semiconductor subsystems for optical
network equipment manufacturers that will bridge
the gap from fibre to fabric. The company is headquartered
in Fremont, California, and has design engineering
and development facilities in Fremont, Pune and
Bangalore.
The company was incorporated in April 1996 and
it was initially an intellectual property company,
which focussed on developing and licensing intellectual
property to core building blocks. These blocks
are used in system, on a chip design, for the
leading-edge communications industry.
In November 1999, the company revised its business
model and is now designing and manufacturing
highly integrated Application Specific Standard
Products or ASSPs. It currently has five products
in development, one of which is in the sampling
stage and ready for delivery to customers. In
addition, it has numerous next-generation products
in the definition stage.
Paxonet Inc. offers a complete range of layer
one through layer three solutions for optical
equipment companies. It focuses on customers offering
solutions for emerging Core and Metro networks.
The company also designs, markets and sells semiconductor
solutions to optical network equipment manufacturers
that accommodate the rapid growth of bandwidth
and enable greater efficiency across the Internet
and other communication networks. Paxonet's
product line focusses on the requirements of the
core, metro and access network equipment manufacturers.
The semiconductor solutions offer several
important features that include the following:
Optical Line-Rate Functionality: The products
will support Layer-1 through Layer-3 fibre-to-fabric
functions.
High Level of Product Integration: The ASSPS
will be Industry leading in terms of channels
per unit, power consumption and functionality.
The products hope to utilise power management
techniques and advanced process technology that
would result in lower power consumption per channel.
Scalability and Intelligent Networks:
The products are designed to be highly scaleable,
both in terms of users and varying traffic rates.
The traffic management and cross-connect features
will enable network service providers to offer
instantaneous new services and bandwidth on demand.
Quality of Service: The product's leading-edge
traffic management functions are designed to enable
guaranteed levels of Quality and Class of Service
for different types of traffic.
Standards Compliant: The product designs
conform to existing SONET, SDH and 10 Mbps / 100
Mbps / 1.0 Gbps Ethernet standards. Participation
in the formulation of emerging 10 Gbps Ethernet,
OIF and MPLS standards help to monitor industry
trends and refine product development efforts
to bring standards compliant solutions to market.
