For a career in the Hotel industry.
Inderjot
Oberoi, the Director of the DINA Institute
of Hotel Studies, Pune was amongst the handful
who got selected to join the prestigious Oberoi
School of Hotel Management. Here she specialised
in housekeeping. After a marriage and two kids
and a stay in Kenya, she returned to Pune.
Inderjot's husband, Ajit Oberoi is the
Director of the Pride Group. Inderjot realised
two things about the fast flourishing hotel business
in Pune. On one hand there was a high rate of
unemployment in the city and on the other hand
there were many voids in the hotel industry that
needed filling.
To battle these vacancies, Inderjot decided to
put all that she had learnt to test, and established
the DINA Institute of Hotel Studies (DIHS).
Inaugurated on August 17, 1997, the institute
enjoys autonomy and an identity of its own. Housing
an efficient faculty and benefiting from the various
eminent hotel personae that come to lecture every
once in a while, DINA has carved itself a niche
in the hotel industry.
What's
more is that within a few years of functioning
itself, the institute managed to bag its finest
laurel - accreditation from the Dutch Delta
Business School (DDBS) of Holland. Now, DINA
students can complete their course of hotel management
in two years, that's one year less than the normal
course of other institutes and gain two full years
of 'on the job experience' at the same time. Plus,
they gain the added privilege of actual groundwork
in one of Pune's finest hotels as part of the
training.
Moreover, DINA also offers shorter modular courses
in various aspects of management for further specialisation.
The students, after attaining the DIHS diploma
in hotel management, have the option of picking
up the coveted and internationally recognised
EURO-BBA degree from the DDBS in one year
itself. (Graduates in other streams also can avail
of this fantastic opportunity).
The Institute has offered a lot of its energy
and resources to Pune and the hotel industry.
It trains youth to flourish in the industry. It
also offers to train personnel of certain companies
in management and staff efficiency to fit the
specific needs of that company. It has undertaken
this exercise for the RSI Club and the
Bajaj Group and the Food and Beverage staff
of other companies.
DINA
Institute gives a chance to many youth who want
to work after their 10th or 12th, and join the
hotel business. With the amount of classy hotels
coming up in Pune and elsewhere in the country,
they have got a fantastic opportunity to learn.
Fees not being a problem with several banks providing
loans, the Director assures us that a student
will get a loan within a few days after applying.
The Institute has a rolling admission policy,
but does not accept more then 30 students in a
batch, so all interested are requested to contact
the Institute at once.
