Kirloskar Electric Company Ltd (KEC) is
the market leader in India
in electric motors, alternators and a host of
other electrical engineering equipment.
KEC has been manufacturing generators for over
four decades now and has an installed base of
generators whose total capacity adds up to 50,000
MW. These generators have been sold to various
end users in the country, which include the who's
who of the Indian industry.
KEC has launched its own brand of compact gensets,
which will be sold under the brand name, Denki.
These 'DENKI GENSETS', will be in the range
of 2.5 KVA to 15 KVA. The applications of these
gensets include providing power to commercial
complexes, office complexes, and cinema houses
in urban areas and for agricultural use to run
agricultural pumps, and provide lighting in rural
areas.
KEC have joined hands with Gadre Industries,
Kolhapur, who are reputed manufacturers
of engines for all applications over two decades,
and have even exported them to a number of countries
including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, South Eastern Countries,
to name some.
The new series of DENKI GENSETS has the
following features:
- It is a compact Genset.
- A Mono block set for the first time in India.
- Electric Start (Push-Button) in the lower
ranges also.
- Better value for money.
- Light Weight and hence easy mobility.

R Kirloskar, the Chirman of the company said
at the launch of the Gensets, "We are
planning to target a market share of 20% in the
initial years, going unto 30% by the third year
of operation. The market has reacted very
positively to the news of the product being launched
and we have already started receiving several
enquiries for the same. We plan to initially launch
the DENKI Genset in Western India, followed by
the Eastern part of India".
This would be an additional
product line for KEC, as they would continue to
supply bare generators to all the original equipment
assemblers.
The Gensets are now available at all dealer outlets.
