Incorporated
as Prav Electro Spark in June 1975, Electronica
Machine Tools (EMT) subsequently changed its
name to the present one in 1992. S R Pophale,
R K & P K Ratnaparkhi, and technocrats
with technical and managerial backgrounds promote
it.
The company manufactures electric discharge
machines (EDMs), computerised & numerically
controlled (CNC) wire-cut EDMs, CNC lathes and
special purpose machines. Electronica introduced
the first ever EDM technology in India in the
1970s. Since then, there was no looking back.
From a single product company, today Electronica
has become a multi-product, multi-location, multi-million
group of companies
The
domestic market for its products includes the
automobile, forging, and general engineering industries.
Its leading clients include TELCO, HMT, and Bharat
Earth Movers. EMT has collaboration with Delta
Tav Data Systems, US, for upgrading its controller
system.
A backward integration facility is underway
at the carbide division. This will reduce material
costs substantially. The company exports its products
to Russia, Poland, Malaysia, Singapore, the UK,
Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia and other countries.
It
recently transferred indigenously developed EDM
and CNC wire-cut EDM technology to Mechtro Joban
Intl, a Japanese concern. During 1996-97, it earned
foreign exchange worth Rs 2.75 Cr.
Due to upsurge of demand in the domestic market
during the year 1999-2000, the turnover of machine
tools and tungsten carbide products increased
respectively by 17% and 33%.
