Film Clubs in Pune
The National Film Archives of India (NFAI)
A favourite haunt of the art-cinema lovers, NFAI
formed its film circle about six years ago. Known
for screening a wide variety of regional and international
films from all across the
globe, you could run into films by Ritwick Ghatak
from India, Kurosawa from Japan, Tarkovsky from
Russia or Abbas Kiarustomi from Iran. With a seating
space in its auditorium for about 400 people,
NFAI screens both Indian and foriegn films every
Saturday at 6:30 pm for its Film Circle members.
NFAI a lso regularly screens film festivals in
colloboration with Alliance Francaise, Max Muellar
Bhavan and Aashay film club.
Annual Membership Fee : Rs 500/-
Memberships are open in June every year.

Prabhat Talkies
This half-a-century old theatre has
started screening children's films produced by
the Children's Film Society of India every Sunday
at 9:30 am. With a view to provide quality cinema
for children, the shows are run on a no-profit
basis by selling the tickets at a nominal amount
of five rupees.

Aashay Film Club
This film club was started to let Puneites
get a taste of world class cinema and best of
the regional Indian films which are not normally
screened in the commercial movie theatres. A regular
feature of Aashay is to screen theme based film
festivals and organise interaction with the actors,
writers, directors and other well known personalities
in the field. It is also actively involved in
organising seminars, workshops, debates, symposia
and exhibitions for its members. The films are
generally screened in the NFAI auditorium.
Annual Membership Fee : Rs 600/-
Memberships are open in January every year.
