Francophony Film Festival
All those breathless Francophiles who've sat
through the film festival of the Nouvelle Vague
director Jean Luc Godard, can now feast on something
else. Francophones, the people who speak French as their
first or second language have made their cultural presence
in many continents. To celebrate the World Francophony
Week, the Pune Alliance Francaise is presenting a selection
of French films made in Switzerland and Belgium. The
festival includes films by directors like Alain Tanner,
Michel Soutter and Dardenne's Brothers who won the Palmes
D'Sor at Cannes Film Festival. Evelyne, director
of the Alliance Francaise de Poona promises that this
is a part of the many more packages of the French films
to be screened for Pune's enthusiastic audience. She
also plans to have special lectures and initiate discussion
among the filmbuffs. The festival will be inaugurated
by the Consulate General of Belgium at the National
Film Archives.
All the films are subtitled in English and will be screened
at the NFAI auditorium.
