This is an extra-ordinary slapstick comedy about
two bumbling photographers employed by the editor
of a scandal newspaper Khabardar. They
have to spy on a millionaire property developer
and the police commissioner. They uncover the
scandal when the commissioner is killed. The film
refers directly to specific corrupt Bombay politicians
of the period and uses actual footage of the collapsed
Byculla fly-over which collapsed shortly before
the film was made.

Life Is A Long Quiet River
French/Col/90mins
Director: Etienne Chatiliez
Cast: Hélène Vincent, André Wilms, Christine
Piguet, Maurice Mons, Daniel Gélin, Catherine
Jacob.
On one side there is this good, respectable bourgeois
family and on the other, a shamelessly poor one,
crowded into a crummy apartment. Only one thing
brings them together: two of the children were
born on the same day and were delivered to the
wrong parents, as a revenge of a doctor's mistress.
A successful French comedy worth a watch.
Membership required for entry.
