The B ank
of Maharashtra was started in the mid 1930s. The
bank is the largest public sector bank that has
its headquarters in the state. It was one of the
first banks that was nationalised in 1966. The same
decade they opened their hundredth branch in the
state, a figure that has crossed a thousand branches
in the state today. The bank in the past two decades
has seen its deposits soar, whereas the bank has
seen its overseas bond issue oversubscribed. The
Bank of Maharashtra has maintained a healthy financial
state and has been a regular dividend payer to the
government. In the last financial year, the bank
paid a dividend amount of Rs. 187 crores to the

Bank |
A multi-state scheduled co-operative
bank that started operations in January !906. It
was registered as the Cosmos Cooperative Credit
Society. It is one bank that works both in the morning
and in the evening. Most of the branches work on
Saturdays and Sundays with eight hours of counter
service. The bank has branches working all seven
days at Deccan Gymkhana. The bank makes payment
to CitiBank against their Diners, Master and Visa
card charge-slips. The bank has a vibrant foreign
exchange service division available in Pune.
