 In
the year 1920, the Late S L Kirloskar
promoted Kirloskar Brothers Limited
(KBL). Currently, Mr Sanjay
C Kirloskar is the Chairman &
Managing Director of KBL.
The Company manufactures agricultural
implements, power-driven pumps, sugarcane
crushers, sluice valves, concrete mixers,
machine tools, etc. Subsidiaries of KBL
are Pooja Credits, Kirloskar Copeland
(environment-friendly compressors) and Kirloskar
Silk Industries.
KBL has designed and developed India's
first large-size canned motor pumps of 220
KW rating. These pumps were developed for
The Nuclear Power Corporation of India
to be used for handling heavy water
at 80-degree Celcius. During the year 1997-98,
the company inaugurated its
Anticorrosion Coating Plant at Kirloskarvadi
having a capacity of
150 TPA. In 1998-99, the company also tied
up with one of the world leaders in hydro-turbines
- Ebara Corporation, Japan to offer
turnkey execution facilities. Kirloskar
Ebara Pumps Ltd (KEPL), a subsidiary
of the company was awarded ISO 9001 Certification
and helped the company in getting overseas
consultants and prospective clients to improve
exports.
The work of KBL's first mini-hydel electric
project site at Murkurthy, Tamil Nadu,
is nearing completion. For the domestic
segment, the agricultural and domestic pumps
group launched all round "PP"
shallow well jet pump and the group has
received ISO 14001 accreditation,
the globally recognised standard for environmental
management systems for its Dewas and
Shirval Plant.
