We are now locating the bearing plant in the country, which is our 32nd worldwide. Our first objective in India is to win the confidence of the Indian customer."

We would like to establish our operations in this country so that the operations could go on smoothly. At a later stage we would also plan to source our other product, the clutch pulley, from India".

Dr. Geishinger, when asked why the company was entering the Indian market so late, as the automobile industry was entering a recessionary phase and most of the companies were down sizing, INA team on the diasreplied, "We could either find the customer and then build the plant or build the plant and then find the customer. Our team had first built the basic customer, in this case the local automobile majors. If you may recall most companies want their vendors close by and with the Mercedes Benz factory close by, we decided it was the right time to invest. As far as recession goes, that is the right time to invest, you must remember that it is cyclical in nature.
