Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary
of Ayur Core Inc, was founded by Deepa
Chitre, MD with her husband Sanjeev Chitre.
This five-year-old company is dedicated to the
discovery, development, testing and marketing of
plant-based pharmaceuticals for difficult to treat
diseases.
The company combines the traditional knowledge and
science of Ayurveda with Internationally applicable
standards of testing. The Company is uniquely positioned
to be a leader in opening the doors to worldwide
pharmaceutical markets.
The company recently opened a World Class R&
D Centre at Warje, Pune. Dr R A Mashelkar, Director
General CSIR and Secretary, Government of India,
Department of Scientific and Industrial Research
inaugurated the centre. In his inaugural speech,
Dr Mashelkar said that the Indian system of medicine
could become the universal system of medicine, as
world-wide the trend was to move towards the use
of traditional systems of medicine. He further added,
that there was an increase in the use of Ayurvedic
Medicines by 15% worldwide, and 50% in the USA.
A fact, that could, in Mr Mashelkar's opinion, prove
to be an engine to drive the Indian economy like
oil is to the Middle Eastern countries. However,
he cautioned against the erosion of knowledge and
said that it was important not only to acquire knowledge
but also to preserve it with documentation and use
it for the development of new products.
The 7,000 square foot centre will encompass all
steps in drug discovery and development including
chemistry, pharmaceuticals, microbiology, pathology,
pharmacology, toxology and clinical research. The
state-of-the-art centre will aim to develop inhouse
research products in an accelerated fashion and
do contract research for other companies especially
medium sized multi national pharma companies.
The company's approach is to do the early development
work in India. This research, conducted and validated
to meet international standards, translates into
tremendous savings of time and research dollars.
The company has the system and agreements in place
to harvest hundreds of plant pharmaceuticals, ahead
of competition, to discover and develop natural
and safe pharmaceuticals at international standards
at a rapid speed.
