The street is lined on
either side with hundreds of dilapidated shops
and street hawkers who sell all kinds of electrical
and electronic spare parts. As you enter, the
road beckons you to buy latest electronic gadgets
at unbelievable prices. You can assemble a colour
television or a latest P-III computer system at
a price that will surprise any manufacturer.
One of the hawkers, Irfan who sells computer
motherboards, mouse, keyboards and other components
is willing to part with a P-III motherboard for
Rs. 250/-. A steal when compared
to the retail market. The hawkers buy computer
spare parts in bulk from scrap dealers and companies
wanting to offload old systems. They then dismantle
the systems and sell the parts individually. A
few of the shops here do sell genuine parts.
Lamington Road is a 'must see' for both the serious
retailer and amateur hobbyist.
