Public Transport
The city woefully lacks a good public transport system.
The bus service is fairly unreliable and the buses are
often packed to capacity. Most of the locals rely on cycles,
two-wheelers and motorcars to move around the city. In
the absence of a private vehicle, visitors have to rely
on the ubiquitous auto rickshaws.
The minimum fare for travel in an auto is Rs 6/- and you
pay Rs 4/- for every additional unit on the meter. I.e.
you pay Rs. 6/-for
1 unit displayed on the meter Rs. 10/- for 2 units, Rs.
14/- for 3 units and so on. The city Municipal Corporation
also plies
Air-conditioned luxury buses within the city for a 'Pune
Darshan'. The buses can be boarded at either the main
Bus Depot
near the railway station or the Deccan Gymkhana Bus Depot.
The charges are Rs 100/- per person. From 9 am to 5 pm
visitors will be taken to twenty places of interest within
the city.
For a visit to neighbouring Mumbai, there are six convenient
trains, three in the morning and three in the evening
that one could board for visiting Mumbai. A single ticket
costs around Rs. 70/-and a seat in the air-conditioned
chair car coach would cost approximately Rs 230/-. The
rate for a seat in a 'share a taxi' to Mumbai is approximately
Rs.230/-.

Private
Taxi Service
One can hire private taxis of different luxury categories
on a day-to-day basis. The average rental per day will
be around Rs.550/- for 8 hours up to 80 kms. Every extra
hour costs Rs 40/-, and every extra km travelled will
cost Rs 5/-.
