glazed door through the glass façade and the store
envelops you. Menswear exclusives stocked include
cotton polyester shirts in plain colours, checks
and striped designs, khaki trousers and 100% wrinkle

like silk and polyester ties and leather belts.
Louis Philippe has extended its brandwear to include
PermaPress - a beautiful range of cotton 100% wrinkle
free shirts (Check this Out!) and the Espiritus
T-shirts' line available in scintillating checks
and plain colours (Must Buy!). Oxidised and gold
plated cuff links are also available and priced

Poona Saree Centre |
The speciality store has been at its place for 25
years now. As you enter, Abdul Razak Hiroli seated
on a white gadhi greets you. The shop has an old
world charm and you know if you are looking for
a particular type of five yard long fantasy or a
salwar kameez for a special occasion, then this
is the right store to come to, because you will
be delighted with what you find.  Traditional
handlooms, cottons, cotton-silk mix, pure silks
with twisted zari border or good range in designs,
bootees (Hiroli will tell you whether there are
500 or 1000 of them on the saree) and contrast pallavs
(borders). In case you are looking for something
that is very Poona-ite, the store also keeps a contemporary
range of sarees with Paithani, Narayan peth, Kamal
and Rugdi borders. If you still haven't decided
on what to buy, then Hiroli will patiently show
you the exquisitely woven Tulsipaan cholis. If you
are looking for something that is traditional as
well as contemporary, don't forget to visit the
Poona Saree Centre. Hiroli is sure to show you a
unique piece. All items are economically priced.

Situated on the main broadwalk on M.G. Road, the
store's windows peeping through the wood and glass
façade catch your eye. There's a variety of items
and you mentally tick off what you have to buy.
There's a cute looking set of ceramic mugs I could
pick up, you think. A moment later as you push into
the store you are overwhelmed by the mind boggling
variety of goods in front of you. Bombay Store is
a lifestyle shoppee with a Swadeshi outlook. In
the central atrium a counter is set aside for a
range of plain and studded 18k carbon white gold
and yellow gold fashion jewellery.  The
clothing section has designer menswear, ladieswear,
unisex style Tantra T-shirts, brightly coloured
brocade scarves, bright hats and leather items.
There is also a mix-n-match shelf for ladies, where
you can select a salwar-kameez with matching dori.
At the other end, there are gift articles like flavoured
teas packaged in a range of attractive packets;
a range of frames and figurettes, candle and lamp
shade stands; Aladdin lamp shades from Auroville;
aromatherapy items like Jasmine and rose perfumed
candles by Utkarsh (a Blind Woman's Association)
and incense sticks; marble and copper enamel items;
paintings; all types of stationery, leather items,
wind chimes, stone, sandalwood artefacts and pot
pourri. The mezzanine floor stacks exquisite ethnic
home furnishing items on one side, and bone china,
stone and ceramic tableware with a host of unique
accessories and exquisite embroidered and brocade
wall hangings on the other end. Bombay Store is
open on all days from 10.30-01.30 and 04.00-09.00.
